Immigrant Justice

“You have been told… What is good and what the LORD requires of you: only to do the right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8).

Since the summer of 2000 many immigrant advocacy groups were actively supporting LIFA (Latino and Immigrant Fairness Act) that would provide the right to apply for adjustment on immigration status and other initiatives to help immigrants. These rights have been denied since the 1996 Immigration Reform. After the 106th Congress finally adjourned in December, negotiations had produced only modest deals to ease immigration restrictions.

Immigrant communities and immigration supporters nationwide will continue to advocate for, among other measures, the complete restoration of Section 245(i), NACARA parity for all fleeing civil strife, and the restoration of due process for legal permanent residents. These issues top the agendas of communities and supporters who will continue to advocate for these and other pro-immigration measures.
